The Chemical Industry Awards celebrate the success of the UK chemical industry and performance excellence at the company, site and individual level, and are issued by the UK Chemical Industries Association (CIA).
Vynova Runcorn was awarded the Skills Award, which recognises the employer who has done the most to contribute to the acquisition of skills by their workforce through an active skills development work programme.
The basis for Vynova Runcorn’s entry was the development and delivery of an inclusive training strategy to support the company’s large-scale investment project at the Runcorn EDC plant. The move from legacy operations has required reorganisation and restructure of the workforce into a forward-thinking, adaptable and highly competent group of employees.
“Our employees have shown a capacity to learn and a willingness to take ownership and a lead in moving things forward. Particular credit goes to six of our Operators who have diversified their skills to become effective trainers and who are key to the successful delivery of the investment project, displaying our company values throughout,” commented Vynova Runcorn Site Manager Irene Robertson.
A team of seven employees attended the Chemical Industry Awards ceremony in Manchester on 15 June. Stuart McElroy, Process Operator, accepted the Skills Award trophy on behalf of Vynova Runcorn. The event was also a celebration to recognise the contribution that the chemical sector makes to UK society and the economy as well as an opportunity for companies to showcase some of the individual and collective achievements made across the industry.
