Vynova achieves full OCS Europe certification for all PVC production sites

Written by Yannick Brusselmans | 25 March 2025

The Vynova sites in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, and Beek, the Netherlands, have successfully achieved certification under the OCS (Operation Clean Sweep®) Europe Certification Scheme. Vynova’s site in Mazingarbe, France, had already received this certification as first PVC production site in the world in 2023, meaning all Vynova PVC production sites are now OCS certified. This accomplishment aligns with the company's sustainability strategy and underscores Vynova's commitment to minimizing PVC powder loss to the environment.

Operation Clean Sweep® is a voluntary initiative of the plastics value chain to prevent the loss of plastic pellets and powder to the environment that can occur during production, handling, transport and conversion. The OCS Europe certification demonstrates that Vynova’s PVC production plants comply with the requirements of the OCS programme to protect the environment. These include the implementation of procedures, tools, and employee training to prevent, contain, clean up, and dispose of PVC powder spills, along with regular audits and communication campaigns.

“With these additional OCS certifications, we have met the important target to certify all our PVC manufacturing sites, which we had set as part of our Sustainability Pillar 3 on Environmental Responsibility. This is a key recognition of our efforts to prevent spilled PVC powder from entering the environment. To realize this goal, we have carried out multiple investments and put new practices in place at our PVC production sites. We put great emphasis on involving our employees, contractors, and transport providers to prevent PVC loss or spillage and to propose improvements for the future,” comments Andreas Scholz, Vynova Vice President QSHE and head of Vynova’s Sustainability Pillar 3 on Environmental Responsibility.

The OCS certificates were awarded following external audits by the independent certification bodies LNE and DNV in December 2024.
