Located in the heart of Europe, our Tessenderlo site produces ethylene dichloride (EDC) and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), two essential building blocks for the production of PVC. Other key products include caustic soda (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH), basic chemicals that our customers use to make a wide range of end products for daily life.
The EDC and VCM produced in Tessenderlo are transported to the Vynova production sites in Beek (Netherlands), Mazingarbe (France) and Wilhelmshaven (Germany), where they are turned into PVC through a process of polymerisation. The Tessenderlo site is very well located with excellent access to logistic facilities and export markets. The site is connected by pipeline with our plant in Beek, by rail with our Mazingarbe site and by ship with our Wilhelmshaven plant.
Vynova Belgium also provides a wide range of operating services to other companies present on the site such as Tessenderlo Group and Valtris AO Belgium.
Although Vynova itself is a young company, the history of our Tessenderlo site dates back more than 100 years. Since 1892, it has grown from a small chemicals processing factory to one of the region’s most prominent employers with 600 committed employees. Discover the most important milestones in our history further down this page.
As a responsible manufacturer, Vynova Belgium is certified for the ISO 9001 quality management standards, the ISO 14001 standards for environmental management and the ISO 50001 energy management system standards. Vynova Belgium is also accredited according to the ISO 17025 standard for testing laboratories.

LVM-BIOcells is a project that examines innovative applications and techniques to reverse or eliminate the contamination of groundwater with Chlorinated Aliphatic Hydrocarbons (CAHs). Vynova Belgium has hosted the LVM-BIOcells project since January 2010. With the financial support of the European Union through its LIFE+ programme, the project ran until December 2017.
You can learn more about groundwater treatment with biological agents and the LVM-BIOcells project on the dedicated website.
Representatives of the Polymers for Europe Alliance travelled to Vynova’s site at Wilhelmshaven (Germany), to present the new criteria for the upcoming Best Polymer Producers Awards for Europe, and to discuss the future of the industry. The visit facilitated a productive exchange on the state of the polymer industry, best practices, and the future of polymer production.
